The Employee Retention Credit (ERC) is a stimulus program created to help businesses that retained their employees during the Covid pandemic. It is part of the CARES Act.

The ERC is a refundable tax credit, not a loan. You do not have to pay the ERC credit back. The credit is available to both small and mid-sized business.
